Business Analyst, Distribution & Content Services

The Business Analyst will have the opportunity to apply business, financial and media expertise to projects within the Systems & Workflow, Distribution & Content Services (DCS) Group. A strong background in media transformation (encoding, transcoding, subtitle and dubbing creation and conform) and digital delivery of media packages is imperative. The role includes supporting all lines of business spanning digital media, television, and motion picture. The Business Analyst will be charged with working directly with the DCS user community as well as Sony Pictures Entertainment IT to gather and document requirements for process reengineering and systems implementation as well as supporting users from both process and system perspectives. The Business Analyst plays a key role in the operations of DCS and should have the ability to work with minor supervision. This position reports to the Manager, Distribution & Content Services.

Core Responsibilities

  • With a strong background in digital media, the configuration and support of systems to set up SPE recipients of digital files. Understanding video and audio types and the ability to transform media into compatible deliverables is required. Working with SPE vendors and users alike to support and improve the supply chain.
  • Collaborate with IT in gathering business requirements, creating process flow diagrams, proposing process and system solutions, producing training materials and leading user testing and training sessions.
  • Create and run reports for data analytics. Intermediate knowledge of general financial terms and reporting packages that include Business Objects and Tableau is required. Ability to create ad-hoc reports joining different data sets is key.
  • Analyze the operations of DCS by pulling data and producing presentations for senior management to make strategic decisions.
  • Maintain and update Sharepoint knowledge center for DCS. Gather and manage the specifications, training materials and process documentation in a central, easy to navigate location.


Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Advanced Excel, Visio or Flowchart Equivalent,
  • Advanced Business Objects, Tableau, Sharepoint, Media Transformation/Delivery experience
  • 3 years Media transformation and delivery experience
  • 2 years Systems business analysis (Agile methodology background preferred) experience
  • 2 years System configuration in the media space experience
  • 2 years End user support experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of system integration methods / API
  • Ability to create data mapping from system to system specifically around media files that include various types of video, audio and subtitle (text)
