At Michigan House Inc. Residential Care Facilities, We provide therapeutic care and supervision to adolescent boys ages 12-18 Years old. The clients we serve are our number one priority. We tailor our services and activities to meet the needs of the clients we serve. We place emphasis on the client's best interest in every situation.

Residential Child Care Worker:

Residential Care Facilities currently has 3 residential homes that are in need of employees. Please apply if you meet any of the following requirements below.

Required Qualifications:

Direct care staff/ Child Care Worker shall ****meet one*** of the following requirements prior to employment:
• Direct care staff shall be at least 21 years of age.

• Life experience in child welfare, mental health or juvenile justice systems as a consumer, mentor, or
caregiver or other relevant experience as determined by the department. Have relevant experience as determined by the department to meet any of the above requirements.

* Have previously been employed as a staff or volunteer at a group home or short-term residential therapeutic center for at least one year.

• Have a valid Vocational Training certificate, credential or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journeyperson who instructs children in vocational skills and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth; or

• Have a valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth

• Have completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, or Foster and Kinship Care Education and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth;

• Have a valid Child Development Teaching Permit

• Have a Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree

• Master's Degree in social work or social welfare, marriage, family and child counseling, child psychology, child development, counseling psychology or social psychology.

Duties and Responsibilities:

(1) Supervision, protection, and care of children individually and in groups at all times.

(2) Assistance to each child in working with a group and in handling individual problems.

(3) Administration of discipline and setting of limits for behavior.

(4) Notation of the child's progress; identification of the possible need for additional professional services; and communication of such findings to professional staff.

(5) Until they complete the 8 hours of training as required in Section 87065(j)(1), new direct care staff shall perform the duties as defined in Subsections (1) through (4) above while under visual supervision.

(6) Assistance with the provision of or access to core services and supports, daily activities, and emotional and social supports, as necessary. (7) Reporting to the Facility Manager and making recommendations to address identified problems.

(8) Any other duties that may be necessary to ensure the health and safety of children in the facility.
Pay starts at $14.00/hr.
