Job description

The Specialist Paralegal -- Business Contracting provides procurement and clinical contracting support to the global strategic sourcing, contract manufacturing and global clinical development operations functions of the company. This position drafts and negotiates a variety of procurement and clinical contracts, including those of comprehensive scope and complexity.

Responsibilities include:
  • Work with minimal direction/supervision to provide legal support on a wide array of business and clinical contracting issues
  • Draft and negotiate high volume of contracts in time sensitive environment
  • Communicate (written and orally) with internal clients and external parties
  • Create, support and deliver training or cross-training of paralegals and other staff within practice area
  • Undertake special projects as assigned
  • Mentor and support professional development of junior paralegals
  • Navigate in relevant systems and processes
  • Understand and align with all relevant procedures and policies
  • Role model the Amgen values

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Masters Degree and 2 years of legal experience

OR

Bachelors Degree and 4 years of legal experience

OR

Associates Degree and 10 years of legal experience

OR

High School Diploma/GED and 12 years of legal experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of an ABA-approved paralegal program
  • 10+ years of experience in a paralegal role or relevant legal experience
  • Clinical trial related experience
  • Experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, or regulatory law
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple routine matters simultaneously
  • Superior negotiation skills
  • Superior analytical and decision-making skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills
