Job description

Job Summary

The District Manager must establish and maintain excellent customer service with every existing and potential customer. Work involves but is not limited to overseeing and supervising the operation of a group of assigned stores, ensuring maximized sales and profitability, inventory and expense control, meeting monthly and yearly Contribution To Plan (CTP) goals, and developing employees for future growth.

Major Responsibilities

  • Ensures timely opening and closing of stores per business hours
  • Schedules and monitors work hours for managers and associates to allow adequate coverage
  • Monitors and counsels' employees regarding performance; ensures that performance appraisals and knowledge tests are administered accurately and in accordance with guidelines
  • Trains staff on check-cashing risk analysis at assigned stores and occasionally for the region
  • Assists Store Managers in setting and achieving goals (e.g. plan CTP, etc.), follows up to ensure goals are met
  • Trains and assists store staff in marketing all ACE financial services through cross-selling and solicitation
  • Verifies new customer card procedures and other services
  • Achieves budget projections and improves profitability of assigned stores
  • Reviews, interprets, and acts upon reports, including but not limited to: Trend Report, Combined Statements, and CTP
  • Performs monthly store audits according to company procedures to include cash levels, post-dated check procedures, customer loans, and inventory; ensures returns and cash shortages are within established limits
  • Conducts training classes to develop employees and facilitate new product rollout; oversees on-the-job training
  • Participates in the 2-step interview process with the HRM by performing the first interview for Store
  • Managers and the first or second interview for Sales Associates
  • Partners with the HRM to manage employee issues such as progressive discipline, leaves of absences, training, etc.
  • Must comply with all Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Safeguarding Customer Information (SCI) procedures
  • Enforces store security and safety procedures and reports discrepancies to the Regional Vice President (RVP)
  • Ensures a clean and safe work environment for all stores at all times (parking lot, lobby, and booth)
  • Examines and inspects the conditions of internal and external signage
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5+ years' experience as a multi-unit manager, 3-5+ years of demonstrated leadership, or 5+ years as a GM in a high-volume big box retailer
  • Knowledge of basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all unit measures using whole numbers, percentage, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to exchange US currency in any denomination.
  • Demonstrate strong people skills including the ability to lead and engage a team, hold employees accountable to results, and develop strong talent that can be moved throughout the organization
  • Must have the ability to drive the business, create a culture of customer service, and operational excellence through the execution of goals.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, organizational skills, strong understanding of financial aspects of retail business, and multi-unit P&L responsibility

The District Manager must have the ability to travel from store to store by car, some overnight travel may be required. Ability to work a minimum of five days per week being on call at all times, as needed.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work.


Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
