The Laboratory Supervisor will be joining a knowledgeable team of skilled, dedicated and caring professionals at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego, serving central and downtown San Diego since 1890. With a Level I Trauma Center, the team at Mercy San Diego thrives in a fast-paced environment and prides itself in its efficiency and teamwork in processing and analyzing a high volume of specimens. To be successful, the Laboratory Supervisor will be a positive, motivated, change leader able to provide excellent customer service to our healthcare partners.

The Laboratory Supervisor will:

* Oversee all technical aspects of hematology, coagulation and urinalysis
* Oversee all personnel on their shift (10-15 individuals), including Clinical Lab Scientists, Medical Laboratory Technicians, Lab Assistants and Pathology Assistants
* Manage performance evaluations
* Provide one-on-one training for new hires and CLS students under the Scripps CLS Program
* Lead process improvements and write procedures
* Serve as the lab liaison for physicians and nurses
* Work closely with the Lab Manager on the daily operations of the lab
* Cover benchwork as needed

This is a full time, salaried positions with day shifts, generally starting at 6am, including any additional coverage as needed.

Preferred:

* Inpatient experience as a generalist Clinical Lab Scientist
* Supervisor experience
* Experience in blood bank, hematology, coagulation and urinalysis

Required:

* Bachelor's degree plus 5 Years experience in lab services
* 1.5 years experience as a generalist Clinical Lab Scientist
* California CLS (MTA) license
* Blood Bank experience
