Job Summary
UCSF HR is looking for a Digital Content Strategist to help improve our HR website, one of the largest communication channels in HR. Our ideal candidate has a knack for aligning business goals with end-user needs. You would also have a strong foundation in user experience.
Our customers rely on being able to search for and find clear information they need quickly and easily. This position is both the product owner for the HR website and an advocate for the customer experience. The content strategist should be comfortable collaborating across teams and building consensus. They will need to take complex information and make it easy and simple for users to understand.
The position combines strategy-setting with a hands-on role in the implementation of that strategy across HR and UCSF. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop content strategy to improve the user experience
- Develop metrics to measure content effectiveness
- Manage HR content development and ongoing maintenance
- Coach content owners on how to write for end-users
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop content
- Create content that supports organizational goals
- Use data to inform site changes and improvements
- Partner with University Relations and IT to maintain and update best practices for UCSF's communications teams.
This successful candidate is detail-oriented with an ability to maintain high standards of accuracy and precision under deadline pressure, excellent judgment, creativity, ingenuity, persistence, and the ability to actively participate in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, team environment, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of the fundamentals of design and implementation.
- Advanced skill in creating effective websites.
- Advanced knowledge of digital communication media, including content management systems and/or relevant web applications used for website production, and organization-specific computer application programs.
- Advanced skill to develop, monitor, and assess processes or services and make necessary improvements. (i.e. experience with Web Analytics)
- Advanced interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen and skill in troubleshooting and applying proactive and positive solutions.
- Five (5) years or more of related design and digital content experience or equivalent combination of education and training.
- Three (3) years or more of technical experience working with computer applications for web communications.
- Three (3) years or more of digital content project management experience.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or journalism and/or equivalent experience/training.
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced understanding of technical language and requirements of the assigned work.
- Advanced technical skills in computer applications for web production, image handling, publishing and design, illustration, presentation preparation, animation, web interaction, and/or other state-of-the-art web communication capabilities.
- Advanced understanding of the organization's processes, procedures, and applicable rules and regulations for web communication.
- Advanced knowledge of the organization, including its achievements, goals, objectives, vision, and mission, and how digital communication can effectively convey and advance the message to various audiences.
- Advanced project management skills to complete projects within budget and time constraints.
- Three (3) or more years of experience with Drupal CMS
