Overview

Located near a Canon facility (San Jose, CA; Dallas, TX; or Phoenix, AZ) the Technical Support Engineer willprovide technical support for software related issues. This is an exciting opportunity for creative candidates with mechanical knowledge who enjoy a technical challenge.
You will work in various customer sites nationwide to set up and upgrade software in our semiconductor equipment, troubleshoot software related issues, and partner with customers to set up/select optional functions and troubleshoot automation settings.

Responsibilities

- Organize and track both computer hardware and software configuration on all products in the field.
- Liaison with local, domestic and overseas software design team regarding software and/or automation related problems in the field
- Set up hardware, install and configure software, drivers and peripheral devices with knowledge of networking components
- Discuss with customers about Semiconductor equipment automation specifications (SECS/GEM Software compliance)

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline required plus 2-3 years of related experience, or a Masters degree preferably in an Engineering discipline.
- Attention to detail with excellent communication skills
- Japanese language skills a plus
- Excellent leadership skills required
- Familiar with SQL, UNIX, LINUX environment and scripting languages
- Understanding of networking fundamentals and concepts
- Knowledge of semiconductor automation system in SEMI SECS/GEM
- Strong understanding of software languages and computer hardware.
- Solid understanding in data structures and algorithms
- Experience in developing or debugging software applications
- Up to 50% overnight travel required (domestic and/or international) dependent on business needs. Up to 80% travel could be required for initial 6 months for training purpose.
- May require considerable travel valid driver's license and acceptable driving record necessary. Additionally, because this position requires driving for company business as an essential function of the job, must remain in compliance with company safety guidelines and policies.
- Microsoft Applications (PowerPoint, Word, Basic Excel) and any other Database knowledge skills a plus.
- Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds individually and for lifting over 50 pounds assistance may be available.
- Substantial amount of standing, walking, typing, grasping, talking and hearing.
- Some amount of driving required, sometime for multiple hours at a time.
- Occasionally kneeling, crouching, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling and climbing stairs
- The worker is required to have close visual acuity with or without corrective lenses for extensive reading; visual inspection involving mechanical / electrical parts, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
- Working in lab may require wearing gloves, safety glasses.
- The work environment may include a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to chemicals, lasers, close quarters, narrow aisles or passageways.
- The work environment may include working in highly time sensitive situations requiring quick resolutions.
