Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position Qualifications:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing human resource related duties, HR programs, and works closely with the Senior HR Director. HR Generalist will be required to build strong partnerships with SHUSA Centers of Excellence (COEs). This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruiting, hiring, onboarding, employee relations, data reporting, benefits, training, performance management, employment law compliance, and building a culture of Diversity/Inclusion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Reviews, tracks, and document compliance with mandatory/non-mandatory programs, training, continuing education, competencies, perform related assessments (includes CAP competencies, professional licensure, and certifications
- Support recruitment efforts and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions in partnership with Talent Acquisition: collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required.
- Partners with Senior HR Director, Finance, and business leaders to ensure the FTE and financial labor budget is adhered to.
- Partners with SR. HR Director and managers for disciplinary matters, performance improvement plans, investigations, and terminations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, local employment laws/regulations, regulatory changes, recommended internal guidelines, and best practices.
- Responsible for the management of Workday to facilitate background checks, employee eligibility verifications, drug testing and the collection of necessary forms/documents.
- Continuously work towards improving the employee satisfaction, turnover, and cost per hire.
- Implements new hire orientation, employee recognition programs, and employee appreciation efforts.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but no limited to compensation, benefits, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance/talent management, employee recognition, employee engagement, health/safety, training, and development
- Analyze and compile HR data into reports and presentations.
- Responds to employee general questions regarding benefits, policies, and procedures.
- Submit candidates, providing information needed to facilitate hiring decisions, including salary recommendations.
- Ensure pre-employment steps, including reference checks and background and drug tests are completed in a timely fashion.
- Assists in hiring process by performing initial interviews upon request; administer background checks and drug screens; prepare offer letters
- Assists divisions and employees with disability and unemployment claims
- Stay abreast of current recruiting trends and recommend creative strategies in partnership with Talent Acquisition.
- Proven organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to self-manage, prioritize initiatives, and work well in a team environment with competing demands and tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy.
- Proficiency in MS office, including Word and Excel. Ability to grasp cutting edge technologies.
- Coordinate and conducts employee orientation and exit interviews.
- Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
- Business acumen: capable of understanding what effects the company by participating in operational meetings
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree preferred and Five+ years of job-related experience, preferably in a human resources department; technical experience, including responsibility for maintaining computer systems; or any equivalent combination of education, experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- PHR Certification a plus
- Excellent customer service
- Superior oral and written communication
- Healthcare-related experience a plus
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive knowledge of computer software.
- Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, especially Excel and Microsoft Word software
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
- Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of human resource administration
- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, manage competing demands and develop realistic action plans
- Demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness of work to ensure quality.
- Skilled at identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner through skillful analysis of information.
- Attention to detail in composing and proofing materials; establishing priorities; meeting deadlines
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and manage workload
