Job description
For over 30 years, LGBTQ Victory Fund and LGBTQ Victory Institute have helped to train, support and elect thousands of out LGBTQ elected officials at every level of government. Our leaders have been catalysts for expanding legal rights for LGBTQ people across the country, and they have transformed our nation's policies and shifted our political landscape towards equality. Today, more than 990 LGBTQ Americans are serving in elected office due to the work of Victory Fund and Victory Institute, including nine members of Congress, two U.S. senators and two governors.
Victory is seeking an Events Manager to spearhead the planning and execution of fundraising and other special events across the country. This position works collaboratively within the organization as well as with an events consultant and a national network of volunteer leaders. The ideal candidate is organized, strategic, detail-oriented, energetic, self-motivated, flexible and able to balance multiple assignments. They will also take initiative to learn new skills and problem solve, as well as understand and anticipate needs.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- In coordination with team members, plan and execute all aspects of Victory Fund & Victory Institute events including, but not limited to, site selection and contract negotiation, catering, A/V, volunteers, and participant experience.
- Act as the primary planner for more than 15 fundraising events that include large scale (800 person) Champagne Brunches to 75 person receptions.
- Support a primary planner for the annual International LGBTQ Leaders Conference that includes three days of programming, 4 networking receptions and two board meetings.
- Develop and deliver timelines for all events including copy, invitation process, internal vetting and all marketing needs.
- Support all planning and logistical needs for 6 local committees (and growing) across the country to execute local fundraising events.
- Manage budgets for events and keeps projections up to date.
- Provide event wrap ups highlighting key learnings, budget management, profit and loss information.
- Develop staffing plans for all necessary events, and recruit local volunteers as needed.
- Prepare all materials for events including name tags, printed materials, and run of show.
- Oversee timeline for drafting and approval of all event emails, confirmations, acknowledgements, and invitations to speakers and special guests.
- Tracks event RSVPs and outreach lists, manage registration needs for all events.
- Respond to all donor inquiries related to events.
- Travel to events is required, and many of our events take place during weekends.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, plus three years' experience managing and executing large scale events and volunteer management for fundraising; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Commitment to the organization's mission and goals.
- Impeccable follow up and follow through.
- Detail oriented with strong organization and critical thinking skills.
- Strong ability to prioritize requests and delegate.
- Dexterity to work in a fast-paced, campaign-oriented environment.
- Willingness to work beyond traditional business hours, includes working evenings and on weekends.
- Excellent time and project management skills; able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- NGP Van + EveryAction and Social Tables experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite.
The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $65,000, commensurate with experience. Please include salary requirements in your materials.
