Job description

Outreach & Operations Manager

Position

BroadFutures is a young non-profit committed to revolutionizing the way young people with learning and related disabilities prepare for their futures. The need is great - approximately 1 in 5 Americans, or 20% of the U.S. population, have learning disabilities and less than 505% are employed or finish their post secondary education. BroadFutures is working to disrupt the status quo by providing training, mentoring and internships which foster independence, self-advocacy, and successful preparation for the workforce and higher education. Our commitment is equally focused on ensuring that employers create diverse workplaces that are inclusive of disability.

As Outreach & Operations Manager (OOM), you will report to the CEO and also work directly with our Executive Vice President, program staff, service providers and others. The OOM position is an integral part of our operations, as well as an important ambassador for our mission and impact. The OOM builds and strengthens partnerships and strategic alliances that will extend BroadFutures programming, is an important contributor to BroadFutures outreach events and culture, and also serves as a vital part of our admissions team. To excel in these dual missions, the OOM must be able to find multiple balances, have outreach and operations experience and a passion for, and ability in working with neurodiverse young people. This position is ideal for a highly motivated, detail oriented, self-starter who is comfortable and motivated by working in a nimble, versatile organization, is mission driven, and open to new perspectives.

This is an exciting time to join our team. We have been able to successfully navigate the challenges posed by COVID, developing additional virtual programming and a decision-making model moving forward. You will have the ability to directly impact our expansion efforts and broaden our reach. Your work will vary from outreach and logistics to recruitment and admission, communications, and even some event planning. You will also be charged with logistically supporting the CEO in her efforts to expand and grow the organization.

Organization

As the only program of its kind in the country, we provide college and career readiness programs as well as paid internship programs. We have met with much success to date, serving over 200 young people directly, hundreds more through our outreach programs, and partnering with over 55 employers. Our internships are designed to provide exposure and experience in a professional work environment, while also providing meaningful and economic value to both our participants and employers.

Our highly successful model incorporates innovative training and mentoring for people (generally between the ages of 18 and 26) with learning and related disabilities. Our programs combine communication and drama to deliver a curriculum that incorporates role-play and improvisation. Yoga and mindfulness are also integrated to address stress reduction and tolerance. The result is a motivated, confident, resilient, and skilled young person who is poised to successfully navigate their education or the workplace and employer partners who understand and support the value proposition of hiring diverse talent that is inclusive of disability.
