Job Description

The Senior Construction Accountant is a full time position that handles a variety of day-to-day financial activities to ensure accurate and timely reporting in a dynamic growth organization. The Staff Accountant's responsibilities include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with close processes, and maintaining accounts payable and accounts receivable. They will also assist the Financial Controller as needed and respond to information requests by management and for auditing purposes.

  • Full Charge General Ledger and lead on monthly closing process
  • Prepare monthly Bank reconciliations for numerous accounts
  • Enter and account for cash receipts
  • Update & prepare monthly financial reporting for both internal management as well as investor partners - Ensure completeness & accuracy
  • Manage intercompany accounting and post settlement cash transfers as required
  • Prepare cash position reporting to support cash management
  • Assist in preparation of annual budgets
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting and analyses to support operations team - Effectively interact with key stakeholders outside of accounting
  • Assist with all aspects of the annual audit process
  • Work with external property management firm to record financial performance of contractually managed entities monthly.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Organizational, quantitative and strong analytical skills
  • Attention to detail, reliable and consistent work ethic
  • Understanding of GAAP accounting and strong general ledger background
  • Ability to approach work challenges logically and pursue continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment with shifting priorities
  • Collaborative approach to working with team members, management and accounting peers
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize daily, weekly and monthly tasks to meet deadlines timely
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and ERP systems
  • Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Two to four years of experience in construction / land development and / or real estate accounting preferred
