The Opportunity:

As the Business Development Manager, you are responsible for developing and executing new business strategies that target new customers that align with WestRock's short and long-term business needs.

You will be responsible for researching and targeting new customers and market sectors to provide high-end value-added WestRock solutions that align with the business strategy and budget. You will serve as a valued partner to WestRock customers to provide an understanding of how our solutions impact their key business metrics that drive operational efficiencies and cost savings.

How you will impact WestRock

* Implement the sales development plan and execute win-win solutions to secure new business and act as a catalyst for strategic growth across WestRock with focus in the US, plus secondary focus on the Central and South American markets
* Support the APS VP, APS Director of Business Development, and APS Sales Director with the contribution to the Play to Win strategy to ensure alignment of solutions, production and operational capacity to customer markets and needs
* Develop understanding of customers' market landscape to proactively identify areas to target opportunities, add additional value, and improve share
* Target, develop, and manage new sales relationships, including internal WestRock enterprise resources and external integrator and partner resources to create new sales channels, increase sales volume and maximize profitability
* Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Marketing, Design, and Innovation teams to assess the feasibility and profitability of new and improved machinery platforms
* Formulate and execute best practices in generating leads and tracking opportunities while leveraging WestRock capabilities
* Work with the APS Director of Business Development to execute Automation expansion programs including Central and South American paper-to-automation developments
* Assist all WestRock sales teams to understand the automation solutions available to them and their customers, and be able to communicate associated value propositions (training programs)
* Build and maintain historical databases for analytical research to help better targeting

What you need to succeed:

* Bachelor's degree preferred
* 10 years within a business development/sales role in the box corrugated/converting industry
* Working Knowledge of APS (Automated Packaging Systems) and Salesforce applications
* Knowledgeable about manufacturing/production methods of corrugated and folding carton, including design, and printing processes
* Proven experience building, managing, and leading sales and business development teams in negotiating contracts and closing new business deals
* Ability to create and deliver engaging presentations to internal and external audiences
* Demonstrated customer-facing competence and financial acumen
* Ability to provide clarity to complex problems and develop long-term solutions
* Ability to establish immediate credibility with customers and within the company to build consensus and achieve goals through influence
* Excellent interpersonal/communication skills with professional staff and senior level executives
* Possess a go-getter mentality to drive new business strategies and develop customer relationships
* Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines and interact effectively with people from varying functions and levels
* Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Salesforce applications
* Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
* 50% travel requirement
