Job description
The Chief Financial Officer(BizOps CFO) will have a ground floor opportunity to build the practice as well as perform a combination of CFO functions as part of client outsourced accounting services teams. This is a market facing role, with business development responsibilities. The incumbent is accountable for acting as and managing the designated function(s) for the client. S/he is also accountable for identifying and implementing best practices related to the service(s) provided to add value to the client. Develops full knowledge of GAAP (FASB/SFAS) and deep understanding of financial and operational aspects of Accounting. S/he will oversee and direct a team of outsourced Controllers, Senior Accountants and bookkeepers who provide the day to day accounting function for our clients.
The outsourcing team has experienced significant growth over the past few years and this role will implement strategic initiatives to continue to grow the team and scale the outsourcing operations. Work Activities & Accountabilities
• This is a market facing role, so the incumbent will work closely with the COMPANY Principals, Managers, and Directors to expand new client opportunities in existing relationships as well as build network to develop new relationships in the community.
• Works with client to set financial policy and is an active participant in and driver of the overall strategy.
• Leads financial administration, planning, and budgeting.
• Frequently partners with client's leadership on operational and strategic issues as they arise, providing recommendations based on financial analysis of projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
• Oversees longer-term budget planning and cost management.
• Monitors progress of budgets and presents operational metrics.
• Ensures financial staff maintains financial record systems in accordance with appropriate principles and monitors the use of funds.
• Manages cash flow and forecasting, directing financial accounting.
• Coordinates audit activities.
• Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple client engagements.
• Builds strong client relationships and becomes a key member of client management team.
• Ability to develop key external business network and becomes service and industry thought leader.
• Leadership and problem identification - Lead lender and investor communications, including communications with insurance companies and attorneys. Drive capital planning, risk management, ratio and KPI analysis, and board of director interactions.
Technical Knowledge: Maintains knowledge of client's organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards. Understanding of GAAP and industry related technical expertise.
Organizational Interfaces
The BizOps CFO reports directly to the client and Managing Principal. S/he regularly interacts with industry Principals, Managers and Directors, , and other functional groups within COMPANY and at the client site. S/he supervises accounting services staff which may include COMPANY BizOps staff (Senior Accountants, Accounting Manager, Controller, CFO), client accounting services staff, or both. S/he will typically spend 50% of time on client assignments (majority at client locations).
Minimum Required Experience, Education, and Certifications
• Experience: 10 years relative work experience as an Assistant Controller, Controller, or equivalent.
• Education: BA/BS degree in accounting or related field required.
• Certification/ Licenses: None required CPA Preferred.
