The Loan Operations Manager leads the strategy and operational execution of the multi-team loan operations department. The position oversees loan closing, post-closing and post-closing document review services of commercial loans and loan booking, processing and servicing of commercial and consumer loans. The Loan Operations Manager implements strategies with a focus on customer experience and continuous improvement. The position manages Loan Operations employees, monitors, tracks and reports on performance metrics and demonstrates the Ameris Vision, Purpose, Expectations and Values. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, trains, coaches, leads, schedules, motivates and evaluates the work of a team which includes Managers, Supervisors, Loan Closing Coordinators, Compliance, Project, Post-Closing and Document Review Specialists.
  • Implements strategy, assesses and monitors performance, motivates and manages a team to meet and exceed goals.
  • Drives strategic initiatives and internal improvements.
  • Responsible for optimizing use of resources to meet operational needs of the Loan Operations department.
  • Oversees the customer experience by assessing customer and employee feedback, identifying opportunities for improvement, researching and resolving complex problems to ensure customer service excellence.
  • Monitors adherence to organizational policies and procedures, individual, team and departmental performance results to identify performance trends, oversee compliance and lead attainment of goals.
  • Documents results and prepares reports and presentations for leadership.
  • Manages Loan Operations budgets by estimating requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions and implementing effective workforce management.
  • Plays a key role in conversion and implementation of loan systems.
  • Maintains trends and best practices in loan operations to contribute expertise and set strategy.
  • Oversees training, education and on-boarding activities to ensure employees are equipped to successfully accomplish objectives.
  • Responsible for setting, communicating and attainment of team objectives and action plans.
  • Leads cross-functional initiatives and projects to improve collaboration, execute strategy, attain mutual goals and better serve customers.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

  • Able to formulate, visualize and execute departmental strategy.
  • Demonstrates leadership skillset with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships, coach, mentor and retain a high performing team.
  • Ability to effectively express self, using language and grammar in a professional manner.
  • Ability to plan, schedule and organize schedules and workloads to achieve strategic goals within or ahead of established time frames.
  • Able to be flexible and supportive, reacting swiftly to change and adjusting priorities. Able to positively and proactively lead change management initiatives.
  • Advanced ability to research, analyze, identify viable options, draw sound conclusions, present findings and make thoughtful recommendations considering overall risk, short-term and long-term impact.
  • Ability to provide a high level of interactive service to others, building relationships and addressing identified needs.
  • Able to negotiate, drive consensus, manage and resolve conflict.
  • Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Thorough knowledge of banking compliance policies and procedures.
  • Able to analyze and record detailed information and produce accurate, high quality work products.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial covenants, business entities, standard and non-standard loan products.
  • Thorough knowledge of loan compliance policy.
  • Able to read, analyze and interpret complex loan documents.
  • Able to occasionally travel locally/regionally

Industry and Work Experience:

  • 10 or more years of Loan Operations experience or equivalent field.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience.

Academic:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field required
