Our Direct client is seeking for Senior Data Governance Engineer to work in the Chicago, IL location. This is a full time permanent role - W2 ONLY.

The candidate must have 10+ years of recent and strong experience managing enterprise data assets in complex organizations. Experience acting as the Application Product Manager for the tools used to manage the Firm's data assets such as the business Glossary and Data Heatmaps. This includes but is not limited to ensuring functionality and reporting support the Firm's needs, product roadmaps, backlog grooming and managing the development lifecycle with multiple Development Teams is required. Prior use or knowledge of Data Warehouse, Analysis Services, Power BI and SSRS and proficiency in SQL is required. Financial Services Industry is a MUST for this role.

The client will hire over a couple of Technical Video Assessments and the candidate must be able to work onsite 2-3 days a week and provide proof of being fully vaccinated.

The Technology Solutions Department is looking for a skilled Assistant Vice President for the Enterprise Data Team dedicated to supporting our Data Governance and Data Quality initiatives. The successful candidate will support the Data Governance Committee by leading Data Governance projects and maintaining the Firm's Glossary and Data Heatmaps. This role is a high-visibility role to support the Firm's "Ask the Data" theme that will lead the definition of data, stewardship and single source of truth with data owners. The ideal candidate must be able to quickly gain a deep understanding of key business processes and the supporting data models to help define impactful technology solutions to enhance those processes.

The candidate will also research and proactively propose areas of data quality vulnerabilities with improvements by working with the Data Stewards and Application Support Teams as well as advises on data stewardship requirements for all new initiatives. This is a client-facing role requiring communication with users at all levels so exceptional verbal and written communication skills are a must.

Responsibilities:

  • Become a subject matter expert in core business functions and data models
  • Ability to analyze and understand complex business processes and present them in an understandable and logical format
  • Recommend data governance and stewardship best practices and procedures and partner with data owners and stewards on implementation
  • Solicit and develop detailed requirements including Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs), business process with data flows, user stories, use cases and success criteria as well as the ability to constructively challenge requirements and current state to increase overall value to the Firm
  • Act as the Application Product Manager for the tools used to manage the Firm's data assets such as the business Glossary and Data Heatmaps. This includes but is not limited to ensuring functionality and reporting support the Firm's needs, product roadmaps, backlog grooming and managing the development lifecycle with multiple Development Teams
  • Support the development and maintenance of an end-to-end data lifecycle management approach
  • Partner with various stakeholders across the organization to achieve the goals defined in the data governance and data management strategies including following the data governance and data quality guidelines to ensure clear accountability and successful mitigation of data governance and quality issues
  • Deliver Data Quality Dashboard status updates highlighting key issues or trends and manage decisions or remediation strategies from steering committee
  • Be resourceful to proactively identify and engage available resources and subject matter experts in related areas to achieve your goals
  • Build strong and productive relationships with key business stakeholders, sponsors, technology colleagues and technology vendors
  • Independently execute complex data analysis across multiple platforms using Excel, Power BI and other available tools
  • Confidently facilitate meetings with all levels of the organization including senior business stakeholders and senior management
  • Utilize reporting tools to design and deliver ad hoc queries and reports to stakeholders

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business or related field
  • 10-15 years of experience in a similar role, in Financial Services
  • Experience in managing enterprise data assets in complex organizations
  • Prior use or knowledge of Data Warehouse, Analysis Services, Power BI and SSRS
  • Proficient with SQL
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)
  • A solid understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Experience managing and executing small to large sized projects and general understanding of Project Management principles
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with complex situations to derive workable actions
  • Self-motivated, team oriented, flexible and able to multi-task
  • Proactive self-starter with a positive can-do and 'no job too small or big' attitude
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation skills
