PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resource function.

All employees of Mossberg & Company are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

1. Manager all HR functions within the organization
2. Lead the HR department ethically and with integrity

PRE-EMPLOYMENT TESTING: Human Resources Basics; Human Resources Benefits Knowledge;
Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

All duties and requirements are essential job functions unless otherwise indicated.

  • Employee Relations - 35%

1. Employee relations counseling2. Outplacement counseling, terminations, and exit interviews3. Witness written warning being given4. Handle legal issues such as EEOC claims and DOL charges5. Advise and train managers in handling employee issues6. EAP Referrals7. Walking club8. Update the Employee Information Center9. Organize Children's Christmas Party - set-up/clean-up before and after party10. Organize Employee's Christmas Party - set-up/clean-up before and after party

  • Strategic Planning - 25%

1. Develop and administer various HR plans and procedures for all company personnel2. Plans and organizes all activities of the HR department.3. Develop department goals, objectives, and systems4. Works with the President & CEO to develop HR budget5. Strategically reviews policies for cost effectiveness and legal compliance6.

Handle Unemployment to mitigate claims being awarded

  • Recruitment - 15%

1. Update job descriptions to ensure current Essential Functions and Responsibilities to assist in mitigating Worker's Compensation, Unemployment, ADA, and discrimination claims2. Develop appropriate interview questions3. Phone interviews candidates4. Participates in personal Cultural Fit Interview5. Determine appropriate tests for each job description and tests candidates6. Checks references7. Ensures all steps in the hiring process are followed

  • Administration - 25%

1. Research and make new benefit recommendations2. New Hire Administration - Collate employee handbook and new hire packets3. Make new employee file and medical file4. Add new employee to Employee spreadsheet5. Ensure I-9 properly filled out and proper identification is received in the proper time frame6. Schedule and ensure drug testing is completed and passed7. Give new hires the benefit paperwork8. Make sure paperwork is returned before 90th day9. Handle employee benefit questions10. Maintain employee medical files11. Maintain employee emergency contact information12. Establish a Wellness Program13. Schedule annual flu shots14. Correspondence with employees15. Emergency Action Plan16. Ensure 1st report of injury is faxed to Worker's Compensation carrier17. Track time off for Worker's Compensation18. Manage light duty19. Monitor Short Term & Long Term Disability, Family Medical Leave, Worker's Compensation, and ADALeave Accommodation
20. Ensure verbal and written warnings are given in a timely manner
21. Update design and content of performance evaluation22. Ensure performance reviews are given and filed
23. EEOC Reporting
24. Organize developmental seminars for the year
25. Assist in preparing for MCO BOD Meetings - prepare packets, purchase snacks
26. Shopping - miscellaneous items as needed
27. Miscellaneous filing
Other duties may be assignedJOB REQUIREMENTS:


A. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

1. Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in HR Management; Master's degree preferred
2. Two to four years related experience and/or training
3. Equivalent combination of education and experience
4. Human Resources Certification

B. Travel
1. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the area and overnight travel may be expected
