Job description

MPG is working with a boutique Asset Management firm in Boston, who is looking for an experienced Finance Associate to join the growing team! As the Finance Associate, you will assist in GL accounting, quarterly reporting, tax basis prep, valuations, cash management, cap calls, and supporting investor relations. You will have the ability to make a direct impact on the daily operations and strategy of the firm. This role will report directly into the COO.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and review of month-end account reconciliations as part of the monthly close, and help to oversee the overall monthly close process
• Assist in preparation of financial statements
• Daily analysis of investment activity and performance reporting.
• Close interaction with the Portfolio Management team to address issues surrounding investment objectives and constraints within each fund's investment mandate.
• Work closely with other departments/business units to coordinate quarterly forecasts, annual operating plans and preparing reports that outline the company's financial position in the areas of income, expenses, earnings, and forecast financial performance.
• Assist in the performance of independent audits, tax return preparation, and bank covenant compliance.
• Assist in preparation of taxable income and allocation workbooks for quarterly tax estimate and annual K-1 processes
• Ad hoc projects

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2+ years' applicable experience
• Prior Public Accounting experience preferred
• CPA preferred
• Strong GAAP financial reporting experience
• Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
• Must be sharp, articulate, and highly motivated
