The Company

The Position

Cygnal is seeking a PhD level Associate Scientist/ Scientist to help us advance the science of Exoneural Biology. The candidate will develop and execute assays to study neuron-immune interactions and develop therapeutic hypotheses from target identification and pathway validation. We are searching for enthusiastic, innovative, and highly motivated individuals who are comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. The candidate will be responsible for study design, experimentation, and data analysis. The position will require creativity, resourcefulness, and adaptability. The ideal candidate must be goal oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills and possess the ability to work independently and collaborate with others effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Design experimental plans for target identification and pathway validation. Includes in vitro and in vivo assay development in collaboration with the scientific team.
  • Execute experiments, interpret, and validate results, identify and solve problems and communicate data to scientific team and executive management

Skills & Abilities

  • Neuroscientist with a focus on target discovery and target validation is desired.
  • Strong experimental skills. Primary neuron tissue culture is a must have. iPSC experience is preferred.
  • Experience studying neuro-immune interactions is highly desired.
  • Experience working with peripheral neurons highly desired.
  • Rodent microdissection skills are highly desired (e.g., sensory ganglia).
  • Familiarity navigating large genomic datasets is helpful.
  • Motivated, curious, and highly adaptable to business needs with excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner.
  • Confident, execution focused, team oriented, with an ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.

Education & Experience

  • PhD in Neuroscience or related field.
  • 0-2 years postdoctoral experience
  • Demonstrated ability in working with highly skilled teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and technical setting.
