Job description

Boston Sports & Biologics, PC is a non-operative Sports Medicine practice in Wellesley Hills, serving the local community as well as welcoming patients from all over New England. The role of Medical Secretary/Receptionist will provide front office support to our patients and providers in Wellesley. The regular working hours are M-F, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, however some hours may change with advanced notice.

This receptionist position's responsibilities will primarily include greeting patients and their families in a warm and welcoming manner, either in person or over the phone. Other responsibilities include:

  • Assist patients both in office and on the phone and direct patient concerns or questions to the appropriate party
  • Greet patients upon arrival, assist with patient check-ins, and obtain insurance information and other necessary data
  • Provide patient with intake and new patient forms
  • Provide patients with support and guidance as needed
  • Maintains patient accounts by recording and updating personal and financial information required for proper insurance billing
  • Maintain office inventory and equipment by checking stock and determining inventory level, anticipating necessary supplies, verifying receipts, and scheduling services/repairs.
  • Protects patients' rights by maintaining medical, personal, financial confidentiality
  • Collect co-pays and co-insurance at time of service whenever possible
  • Schedule initial and follow-up appointments for provider
  • Schedule tests/procedures as well as outside referrals to specialists
  • Ad hoc projects and assignments as required
  • Test/Procedure prior authorizations as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree preferred

- Medical Office experience (preferred)

- Experience with computer systems required, included web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

· Written Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers.

· Oral Communication: Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.

· Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.

· Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members.

· Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Physical Nature of the Job:
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling objects. Sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally.
