Job description
Purchasing Manager
This position is based at our R&D facility based in Plymouth, MI to support our manufacturing operations in Elkhart, IN
Essential Functions:
Manage a small purchasing team including training, work allocation, and problem resolution
Review order status and place orders as necessary Manage a small purchasing team including training, work allocation, and problem resolution
Develop program sourcing plans with key inputs from engineering, program management and operations
Work with Engineering, quality/supplier quality roles and suppliers on assuring initial quality/part approvals and addressing Warranty issues
Maintain inventory levels consistent with production schedules
Drive cost reduction efforts and ideas through implementation to meet annual targets
Expedite deliveries as needed, communicate with other departments regarding changes in prices, lead times and material availability
Partner with engineering to develop alternate suppliers if deliveries will delay production
Support implementation of ERP
Manage and create reports in Excel (or other ERP system outputs) for management review
Aid in trade compliance with Materials Manager to ensure it is maintained within the system
Develop robust policies and procedures for the purchasing team

Able to identify new prospective suppliers to optimize Service, Technology and Price metrics
Have strong communication and negotiation skills, able to meet with suppliers and vendors
Ability to forecast and analyze data
3+ years of experience in MS Office
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years of purchasing functional experience
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering
5+ years of experience in automotive (preferred) or aerospace industries in OEM or Tier 1 levels
3+ years of experience in electrical components
CPIM certification preferred
Good interpersonal and communications skills
High level of integrity
Ability to work independently, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail to ensure that the sourcing criteria meets stakeholder requirements
