The Role
The Buyer/Planner has the primary responsibility of ensuring material availability to support operations and maintenance schedules. Other responsibilities for the Buyer/Planner include managing inventory levels, supporting material/product level revisions, interacting/coordinating with suppliers on a variety of topics ensuring compliance and supporting other business functions as required.
Responsibilities
* Place purchase orders with suppliers for the procurement of all material as required by approved Purchase Requisitions.
* Monitor status of open orders to ensure on-time delivery of all items ordered, including timely resolution, communication and mitigation of all future problems.
* Expedite or defer orders as required based on schedule and/or inventory changes.
* Recommend and establish optimal inventory levels in order to fulfill anticipated operations and maintenance schedules based on material lead times.
* Coordinate material flows throughout production/BOM changes, obsolescence, and the introduction of new suppliers and/or materials due to new product development.
* Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies, returns and quality problems with suppliers.
* Provide back-up support for supply chain functions including shipping, receiving, material handling and other duties as assigned.
* Collaborate with internal customers and provide a high level of customer service, including recommending solutions, resources and alternative supply options.
* Ensure and promote compliance to Federal, State, and Agency procurement policies and procedures.
* Understand and comply with all FTA, FAR, State, and Local procurement requirements.
* Understand and comply with all import/export requirements.
Knowledge, Skill, & Abilities
* Expert applied knowledge of forecasting, MRP, transportation, supply chain, inventory management and warehousing disciplines
* Understand and comply with all FTA, FAR, State, and Local Procurement requirements.
* Proficient with Oracle E-Business Procurement, Sourcing, and Advanced Supply Chain Planning Modules, MS Office suite - advanced skills with MS Excel
* Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
* Excellent organization, communication and follow-up skills
* Able to influence others and manage conflict
* Ability to self-direct and take constructive action in ambiguous situations
* Extremely high standards of excellence
* Analytical with methodical approach to problem solving
* Experience establishing and employing demand-pull material planning methods
Education
Experience
Degree: BS/BA in Business or related discipline.
Years: 1 - 3 years of experience in buyer/planner/material scheduler role, production scheduling, inventory management, and MPR related field
Field: Supply Chain Management or Business Administration, Operations Management or related field preferred.
Filed: Experience in Production Scheduling, Inventory Management, MRP or related field.
