POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Accounting Manager and CFO this position provides grant accounting support for the organization's Federal, State and private grant funding sources. This position will be responsible for compliance oversight of post-award grant administration and related accounting duties. In addition to grant compliance oversight, this position works closely with Program Managers, focusing on budgeting, reporting and various analysis metrics. Also, answers non-routine correspondence and assembles highly confidential and sensitive information. Deals with a diverse group of important external callers and visitors as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization.

POSITION-SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gather the appropriate documentation to support all expenditures for a particular contract or grant agreement (payroll reports, invoices, G/L printouts, etc.)
  • Prepare the contract billing report or invoice based on funding source guidelines
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness and conformance to standards defined within the department and funding source
  • Prepare semi-annual/annual closing reports for contracts/grants as well as other regulatory reports as needed.
  • Perform monthly analysis of program or grant activities in comparison to funder approved budget
  • Prepare internal reports for program managers and directors to assist with proper and relevant decision making
  • Prepare journal entries and adjusting entries for monthly and year-end closings for program or grant activities to the general ledgers
  • Develop and implement proper keeping of financial records, making use of current technologies
  • Assist with annual program or grant budget preparation.
  • Assist with annual Audit preparation as related to program and grants activities
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Attend departmental/Center-wide meetings as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration
  • Experience: 3+ years accounting, especially grants reporting
  • Language: English as a primary language
  • Hours of Work: Monday - Friday 8a-5p
  • Travel: Local as required
