Job description
LEAP leads the world in the development and sale of cloud based legal practice management software for small law firms on a Software as a Service (SaaS) model. We have offices in the USA, Australia and the UK with more than 13,000 law firms using our software worldwide.
We are in search of a Legal Research Specialist to join our highly motivated, high velocity and growing team where you can enhance our culture and showcase your talent by doing things smarter, better and faster.

WHAT DOES A LEGAL RESEARCH SPECIALIST DO?
At LEAP, our Legal Research Specialists investigate how to tailor our world-class software to meet the needs of users in different jurisdictions. This position shapes the success of our business and sets us apart from our competitors.
In this role, you will be researching different areas of law in a variety of different states, before reporting back on what our software must include to support our clientele of practicing attorneys. You will visit users to bolster your research, and work closely with our developers to bring your recommendations to reality.
The Legal Research Specialists also oversee our growing library of over 7,000 automated forms. You will be responsible for populating these forms with information that pulls automatically from client files, allowing users to produce legal documentation efficiently and accurately.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
This is the perfect position for someone who wants to use their legal background but is not looking for a traditional legal career. We are looking for people who want to work with the latest technology, and are driven by finding better ways of doing things. This role is based on a hybrid working pattern, with the expectation of 1-2 days working in our Jersey City office weekly.
Requirements
Essential qualities:
* A passion for legal research, together with experience using different research methods to find answers
* Experience working in the legal industry as a paralegal, law student, or attorney (preferably across various areas of law)
* Microsoft Office proficiency (Intermediate+)
* Desire to engage in logistic and technological problem solving
* Critical thinking skills
* A high level of attention to detail, and adherence to established standards
* Ability to work well independently and within a collaborative team environment
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Driven to provide the best possible result for clients
* Experience balancing competing priorities and shifting deadlines
* Ability to strategize and improve processes to maximize quality output
Desirable qualities:
* Juris Doctor degree
* Experience using document automation in Microsoft Word or another software provider
* Proficiency in JavaScript or another programming language
* Experience using legal document management software
* Experience working on large-scale, multi-level projects
