Position Title: Mortgage Originator

Job Type: Full-Time

Classification: Non-Exempt

Salary: $19.23 - $26.44


Our growing credit union is searching for a detail-oriented team member to provide exceptional service to our members. This includes providing prompt, efficient and courteous service while completing mortgage originating and processing duties that are essential to ensuring proper mortgage loan servicing. In addition, the employee will need to effectively promote member awareness and knowledge regarding first mortgage programs and create an environment that nurtures member retention and satisfaction.


Essential Functions & Basic Duties

  • Serve and satisfy member needs with a superior level of customer service while providing general information and cross selling products and services.
  • Strongly promote member awareness and knowledge regarding first mortgage products.
  • Possess a complete knowledge of all application, RESPA, and closing documents and the ability to explain each one to our members.
  • Determine a member's needs and correctly match them to the appropriate product.
  • Take applications by phone, Encompass or off-site.
  • Provide assistance to members and solve all problems that may arise between application and settlement.
  • Concisely and accurately prepare loans for submission to processing and underwriting.
  • Present loans to First Mortgage Manager/Assistant Manager with reasons and recommendations for approval/denial.
  • Obtain life of loan flood certificate.
  • Facilitate member retention and satisfaction by answering questions before, during, and after the loan closing.
  • Skillfully conduct home buying seminars at off-site locations.
  • Visit SEG groups to conduct mortgage meetings and generate lead sources.
  • Keep abreast of current economic trends and conditions.
  • Contribute to the team effort by performing all other duties as required.


Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Employee must register with the NMLS Registry as required by the S.A.F.E. Act.
  • Minimum 1 year of customer service and loan processing experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of mortgage origination experience.
  • Have a thorough understanding of mortgage products, guidelines and regulations.
  • PC proficiency required.
  • Strong people skills and a knack for problem solving.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours as required with little or no prior notice.
