Job description
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the accounting for four commercial properties
• Prepare operating & real estate tax escalations using Excel and applicable lease clauses interpretation
• Interact regularly as a general resource with Property Managers to address Tenant concerns, ensure proper invoice processing, Accounts Receivable, and Sundry processing
• Prepare operating budgets and update 18-month rolling forecast
• Review monthly rent billings
• Review accounts receivable
• Prepare and review quarterly and annual reports for lenders
• Review and maintain real estate tax escrow schedules
• Manage tenant escalation audits
• Review bank reconciliations
• Review general ledger, balance sheet and income statement, and provide variance analyses
• Review all capital invoices (include building & tenant improvements, leasing commissions)
• Oversee capital project tracking and reporting
• Coordinate tax certiorari functions with consultants and attorneys
• Review lease abstracts and supervise the preparation of accurate rent bills based on lease terms
• Calculate mortgage debt ratios
• Coordinate information for outside auditors for annual tax returns
• Work as a team with accounting colleagues to improve processes and documentation of procedures and other project work as necessary
Qualifications:
• 4-year degree in finance, accounting, or business
• 5+ years of commercial real estate accounting
• Advanced Excel skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Solid understanding of commercial lease terminology
• Knowledge of the MRI accounting system a plus
