Job description

VelocImmune (VI) Next is an innovative technology development group that creates and uses complex mouse models and functional assays to study antibody, oligonucleotide, and cell-based therapies across various therapeutic areas in R&D. We are seeking a motivated scientist who has strong immunology knowledge and extensive experience in mouse and human adaptive immune system, to work in a highly collaborative research environment to support various cell and gene therapies, focusing on technology innovation as well as developing and progressing potential therapeutics.

As a Scientist on the VI Next team, a typical day might include the following:

• Designing and implementing new strategies to engineer and analyze primary cell types.

• Studying in vitro and in vivo models on B cell development and B cell differentiation.

• Analyzing candidate therapeutics using in vivo mouse models of tumors, autoimmunity, and transplantation.

• Developing in vivo and in vitro/cell-based assays to screen and characterize candidate therapeutics

• Suggesting and pursuing new targets/pathways and new technologies for improving humanized mouse models.

• Investigating new technologies, independently and collaboratively, in antibody and cell-based therapeutics.

• Supervising research associates and/or scientists.

This role might be for you if:

• You have diplomacy skills and are flexible in collaborating with a diverse scientific staff.

• You have strong organizational, time-management, and presentation skills.

• You have the ability to lead multiple projects independently and across groups.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related fields with 3+ years experience researching the development and/or function of primary immune cells, especially B cells. A solid understanding and a proven track record of innovation and research accomplishments in immunology; Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques (cloning, PCR, CRISPR gene editing, etc.); Experience with viral vectors is desired. Skills in mouse handling, flow cytometry, ELISA, and other standard immunological assays is required. Experience in one or more of the following is highly preferred: gene editing in primary cells; B cell maturation, activation, and function during an antibody response. A strong record of innovation and research accomplishments in genomic engineering, DNA repair, molecular immunology, or related field.
