In coordination with Corporate Government Affairs, this position must develop and execute political, legislative and regulatory strategies and initiatives that support and enhance the company's business objectives, including strategic community affairs initiatives. This position is also responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with federal officials from New York and manages three directors of government affairs that covers the New York service area. Leadership Attributes Key to success in this role will be the ability to effectively manage the regional Directors in NY, particularly with helping team members to sift through a high volume of requests and competing priorities to focus on those that have the largest impact on achieving a better governmental environment for the company's products, services, and business objectives. Communicate senior leadership's vision for the business and create a framework that supports the department's goals and mission Provide impactful feedback to the team describing actions or behaviors that can be solved by offering the proper tools, training, time and support to successfully perform Create an environment where the team feels rewarded and recognized to foster a supportive and lean-in workplace culture consistent with the company's values ResponsibilitiesDevelops and maintains relationships both directly and through team members with the Governor's office, the Attorney General, the state utility commission, and other state agencies; the state legislature (including leadership and key committee chairs) and legislative staff members; the congressional delegations; and municipal officials in New York. Recommends political contribution strategies and manages the company's participation in political events. Manages all state-level legislative and regulatory advocacy on issues impacting the business as well as the legislative issues at the municipal level, including in New York City to include strategic planning and direct day-to-day engagement in all aspects of legislative and regulatory proceedings as well as coordination with industry allies and third-party organizations that impact the passage or defeat of relevant legislative and regulatory proposals. Develops and executes government strategies to garner support for business initiatives ranging from programming disputes to efficient deployment of the fiber to the home network. Identifies opportunities for participation in state or local programs, such as broadband infrastructure initiatives. Responsible for managing efforts to secure and renew local franchises, including new authorization to support expansion.Ensures the settlement of franchise audits on favorable terms with local government officials, as well as securing authorizations for commercial telephone business to have facilities in public rights-of-way. Develops strategic targets for execution of community affairs initiatives to advance the company's community image and relationships with public officials. QualificationsQualifications10+ years' experience in the telecommunications industry, government sector or other relevant areas.4-year degree is required, graduate level degree is preferred.
