Job description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides daily human resources; payroll; training; and benefit administration support services. Responsible for recruitment, hiring, and onboarding; benefits assistance; timekeeping and payroll; and personnel, training, and payroll recordkeeping. Provides information about human resources laws, policies and procedures, training requirements, and benefits; and answers questions related to timekeeping, payroll, and other personnel matters. Creates and maintains reports and spreadsheets to ensure proper projections. Schedules, tracks, and conducts staff training. Assists in identifying and resolving employee work performance problems; tracking employee performance evaluations; and processing employee disciplines. Organizes and maintains appropriate hard copy and computer-based information to ensure quick retrieval. Develops, reviews, revises, maintains, and enforces facility policies and procedures and ensures compliance with current human resources laws and the standards of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC), American Correctional Association (ACA), and Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) as they relate to human resources and training. Organizes employee recognition/appreciation events and coordinates charitable campaign initiatives. Serves on investigative teams and manages special projects. Serves as Executive Assistant to the CBCF Leadership Team. Prioritizes work and deals with unforeseen interruptions. Maintains confidentiality and utilizes tact and discretion.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work involves a significant amount of standing, walking, sitting, talking, listening, stooping, and reaching with hands and arms. Must be able to transfer up to fifty (50) pounds. Visual ability sufficient to operate equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field required. One to two (1-2) years of human resources experience preferred. Must have good interpersonal skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment within a team approach is important. Must also be able to make sound, ethical decisions that support the facility's mission. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer programs. Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and have a good driving record.
