DEPARTMENTAL SUMMARY: The Human Resources Department provides many services to our multi-hospital organization and medical groups including: talent acquisition, employee relations, labor relations, compensation and benefits management, information services, and on-boarding/off-boarding.

POSITION OVERVIEW: Under the direction of the Compensation Partner and in partnership with other caregivers among the Human Resources Department, the Compensation Specialist is responsible for data collection, auditing and validation of various compensation related programs. This position does not directly manage other caregivers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

Acts as first line of representation for the compensation team and reassigns inquiries to compensation partner as deemed appropriate.

Responds to compensation related inquiries in a timely manner, building effective business partnerships. Provides compensation consultation to Business Leaders, HR Business Partners and the Recruiting team.

For new hire and transfer requests, provides placement-in-range assistance to the talent acquisition team using the appropriate compensation tools and adhering to all compensation policies and procedures.

Assists leaders with review of caregivers' qualifications and wage recommendations for promotions, transfers and non-disciplinary demotions.

Assists with the review of requests for new or revised jobs to determine appropriate pay grade assignment and FLSA status. Assists leaders in updating job descriptions to stay current and defer them to the Compensation Partner for pay grade and FLSA exempt status reviews.

Audits above maximum and below minimum wage reports and proposes necessary corrections.

Runs hours and anniversary validation reports to assist in step increases for union employees.

Conducts initial pass of equity reviews and provides recommendations.

Maintains survey data forecasting calendar. Assists in market job matching and survey data submissions.

Performs monthly wage book audit to ensure consistency with Workday data and to ensure positions and pay grades are appropriately aligned across the system.

Contributes to the development of compensation policies and practices.

Provides administrative support for compensation projects and initiatives.

Role models two-way communication of the St. Charles Health System mission, vision, values, and strategic plan for the department.

EDUCATION

Required: High school diploma or GED

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or other relevant field

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION

Required: Valid Oregon driver's license and meet St. Charles Health System driving requirements with the ability to travel to all St. Charles Health System campuses

Preferred: PHR/SPHR/SHRM-S/CP

EXPERIENCE

Required: Two (2) years' experience working in an analytical-type role and/or experience in human resource support position.

Preferred: Previous experience in a compensation related role. Experience in a healthcare setting is a plus.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.
