Job Title: Quality Control Inspector
Position Objective:
The Quality Control Inspector re-verifies that all manufacturers are providing products which meet the highest standards of excellence.
Scope:
Through inbound audit and close inspection of selected lots, the Quality Control inspector will address any on-site quality issues & relay findings to Vision Ease Quality Staff for appropriate corrective action.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform quality audits on various products including domestic and internationally manufactured, OEM supplied and sourced lens production for adherence to VISION EASE quality standards.
  • Set up and perform destructive and non-destructive tests on products to measure performance and other characteristics as needed.
  • Collect & evaluate data by applying statistical methods to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Assist in competitive quality audits as needed.
  • Write technical reports for communicating test results to key stakeholders.
  • Work in conjunction with 3PL warehouse if additional staff is needed for larger more generic inspections.
  • Assist in coordinating and delegating repackaging projects to 3PL warehouse. Ensure that all packaging is done properly in accordance with safety regulations and customer expectations.

Quantity - Meets productivity standards while demonstrating the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments and complete work in timely manner.

Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time.

Dependability - Follows instructions, responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions; keeps commitments; commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.

Flexibility - Must be flexible to adjust the work schedule so as to accommodate permanent or temporary changes in work hours, including late hours, weekends, or holidays to meet business needs. Overnight travel during training period will be required.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education & Experience:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 2010 or higher; specifically Word and Excel is desired
  • Minitab experience is desired
  • Ability to learn new software programs as required for data collection through various measurement systems
  • JDEdwards proficiency preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or 2-4 years related experience
  • Cosmetic inspection experience is preferred but not required
  • Experience in the Optical Industry preferred
  • Six Sigma experience is preferred but not required
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus
  • 10-Key speed of average up to 8,000 KPH
  • Typing speed of at least 40 WPM
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Must pass the inspection certification test. An acceptable Gage R & R score must be achieved and maintained.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of management, vendors, suppliers and 3PL to produce quality results.
  • Motivated self-starter who can handle problems with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible managing multiple assignments and be proficient in managing priorities.
  • Strong team player skills, with a collaborative, solution-driven mentality.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually equivalent to a call center setting. Some working hours will be in a warehouse, distribution center environment; and will include the sounds of trucks, forklifts and some sudden noises.
