Job description
The Child Health Research Center in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia is seeking a Research Scientist or Senior Research Scientist Bioinformatician to work in the laboratory of Dr. Ariel Gomez to investigate the epigenetic and genetic determinants of cell fate. In addition to their own project,the candidate will also advise/teach other investigators within the center. The incumbent will collaborate with researchers in designing and implementing research projects, analysis of large data sets, and presentation and publishing of results. The candidate will be involved in the design of research projects and supervise students and post-doctoral fellows and developing innovative approaches for data analysis. Experience in analysis of genome wide analysis resulting from ATAC-seq, Chip-seq and single cell RNA-seq and whole genome sequencing is a must.
Qualified candidates must have a PhD degree with experience in Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Biomedical Sciences, data sciences or a related field, and publications in peer-reviewed journals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Candidates with postdoctoral experience in bioinformatics applied to epigenetics will also be considered competitive.
This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.
