Job description

Orders out patient tests in the laboratory information system (LIS), receive all specimens into the LIS, and disperse samples to the appropriate laboratory department. Answers incoming telephone calls, fax patient reports as requested, dispatches phlebotomists. Posts charges for industrial accounts and corrects laboratory billing errors. Assists in printing phlebotomy lists.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent education required.

Experience: Medical office experience preferred. Knowledge of computers and other standard office equipment required. Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Minimum of 6 months experience in a customer service field required. Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute preferred.
