Title: Technical Assistant to Director of Town Planning

Department: Town Planning & Design

Location: Corporate Office (Seabrook, WA)

Supervisor: Stephen Poulakos

Classification: Full-Time, Exempt

Pay Grade: $40,000 - $50,000 DOQ

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Technical Assistant to our Director of Town Planning to fulfill our dream of creating one of the most beautiful beach towns in America. We've been building an award winning new urbanist community for 17 years on Washington's "Hidden Coast" just 2.h hours west of Seattle and as the southern gateway to Olympic National Park (a world Heritage site).


We've reached an exciting level of maturity that allows us to move faster and think bigger. To do this, we need more help. Our TA will play a key role in facilitating the building & planning or our unique town using accrued design and construction experiences. Key duties will include assisting Director of Town planning with day to day tasks including administrative duties outlined here:

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. House plan production & file management using LOTS Master Folder
  2. House plan library creation, management, & organization
  3. Marketing document planning, review, & processing
  4. Design review board functions & property owner inquiries & customer assistance
  5. Design Code updates & creation / Design charrette organization
  6. Spreadsheet management / house plan production to include tracking & markup reviews from concept to construction completion (design, marketing, sales, construction)
  7. Assist Director of Town Planning with construction permit packages, paperwork processing, scanning, file management & organization.
  8. Assist with house and park landscape design document creation
  9. Assists the Town Planner in conducting research, gathering data, and supporting project work.
  10. Update & maintain Annual Exterior Color List, samples, specifications, standard & upgrade lists
  11. Management of Seabrook Master Address List & Town Mapping
  12. Merging of Sales & Construction computer servers' w/ LOTS Master Folder respectively
  13. Work closely w/ specialized consultants in the fields of: urban planning, civil engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, environmental planning, as well as those in state, regional and local agencies as needed.
  14. Assist with calendars & meeting schedules for Director of Town Planning as needed
  15. Development & product resource planning
  16. Signage design, review, implementation
  17. As-Built construction studies & analysis
  18. Adhere to schedules
  19. Maintain a high-degree of confidentiality

Supervision:

  1. Supervision Received: Performs work independently under the general supervision of Stephen Poulakos. Must be self-motivated with the ability to work without direct supervision whenever required but will include consulting with Town Planner when clarification or interpretation of procedures, tasks, or policy are met to meet the demand of the company.
  2. Supervisory Responsibilities: Consultants in the fields of urban planning, civil engineering, architecture, landscape design, environmental planning, as well as those in local, state, & regional agencies as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

A. Education & Experience:

1. Education: College (technical or 4 yr. degree recommended)

2. Experience: Design & Construction


B. Skills & Abilities (required):

1. Language Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in English as the operational language of the company. Communicate effectively with varied population, including individuals from diverse ethnic, racial, cultural and economic backgrounds.

2. Highly organized & goal oriented

3. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

A. Design & Construction Experience:

1. Builder - House plan production knowledge & understanding

2. Garden & landscape design | Native plant design

3. Hand-drafting capabilities

4. AutoCAD | Bluebeam drafting capabilities

5. PageMaker | Illustrator | Sketch Up | Photoshop

Work Environment:

  1. Work is mostly performed in office conditions; some fieldwork is required to perform site visits and on-site inspections & site analysis; the employee is required to attend weekly team meetings.
  2. The employee operates standard office equipment and personal automobile
  3. The employee has regular contact with resort town departments including but are not limited to: Sales, Marketing, Construction, Maintenance, Homeowner Board Representatives, Finance Departments.
  4. Supports the goals of the Town Planner through creative problem solving, decision making and a commitment to customer service. Performs similar or related work as required, or as situation dictates.
