Job description

If you have experience supervising a team of Associate Underwriters at a P & C Insurance carrier and you excel at training and team building, my Carrier client would like to talk to you.

My client is a Multi-Line Commercial Insurance Carrier. This role is in their Commercial P & C Division which serves offices in the Western States. You will be supervising 10 to 14 Associate Underwriters who are focused on Middle Market Premium up to 1 million. You will be a "player/coach" with a focus on best practices, metrics, workflow, and staff training/development. You will have local travel to regional offices as frequently for training and other corporate rollouts. You will work a hybrid of office/home, Zoom is used for video communication and Policy Decisions by Insurity is the Carrier software used.

Key job responsibilities include:

• Oversee the Associate Underwriter staff and meet regularly to discuss challenges, results, workload priorities, and workflow changes in the underwriting department.
• Develop staff through effective coaching and mentoring to maximize individual employee contributions for achievement of personal and company goals.
• Implement, monitor, and share key metrics and results tied to business objectives.
• Reviews and analyzes workloads periodically to ensure staffing is adequate to support workload and balance amongst the staff.
• Provide technical leadership to Associate Underwriters related to filed rates, rules & forms impacting the business
• Work in Partnership with Underwriting & Operations leaders to drive efficient workflows to facilitate handling of daily workflow tied to mutually agreed upon objectives.

Candidates need to have experience at a middle market insurance Carrier supervising underwriters or Associates. Experience with ISO rules and forms is a MUST. Experience working with Insurity products/Policy Decisions or Guidewire is a huge plus. You must live a commutable driving distance to Boise, Seattle, or Portland to allow for easy travel to area offices to be considered for this role. Relocation assistance is also available. Fully remote is not available for this role due to the need for in-person training at area offices once Covid eases.
