Great Software Development opportunity! This small, but busy web development firm is looking for a Software Developer with solid WordPress and/or Drupal skills, Linux capabilities preferred, who is passionate about the web, a dedicated problem-solver and eager to make an impact with this close-knit team.


This company is a web development firm specializing in ongoing support of web sites and applications based on Drupal and WordPress open source content management systems (CMS). They work with clients from start-ups to established government and educational institutions. Since they focus almost exclusively on Drupal and WordPress, they have the expertise to handle any development challenge for organizations in any stage of growth.


COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS

This position is currently remote and may return to onsite work in a hybrid capacity in the future, but fully remote work options may also be available long-term.


WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Plan, build, implement, and integrate a variety of features and functionality on existing Drupal and WordPress websites
  • Track down and solve technical problems
  • Recommend technical solutions for business problems
  • Identify ways to make websites more effective
  • Support DevOps processes around testing, deployment/release management, and uptime issues
  • Write clean, maintainable code, and perform peer code-reviews
  • Be part of on-call rotation to make sure any unexpected issues that arise are resolved as quickly as possible
  • Help define and implement standards and promote best practices


WHAT THEY WANT TO SEE

  • Experience building, supporting, enhancing, or working with Drupal and/or WordPress
  • Proficiency in a variety of modern web languages and frameworks preferred (JavaScript, PHP, HTML/CSS, Vue.js, React)
  • Strong problem-solving skills, a knack for learning new environments and applying the scientific method to diagnose a problem quickly
  • Computer Science or related degree is a plus, not required
  • Previous hands-on Linux experience preferred - both professional and personal experience will be considered (i.e. played around with hosting, set up websites, created/maintained copies of websites, moved sites around servers, tested newly created websites, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, ability to manage and track time effectively

  • Proven ability to work both autonomously and in groups on projects
  • Experience working directly with development teams
  • Knowledge and demonstrated application of development or operational best practices

Compensation: $22 - $30/hr DOE

Availability: Monday - Friday, typical office hours, flexibility available. This position typically starts with around 10 hrs/wk for initial training and ramps up to 40 hrs/wk in about 2-4 weeks, depending on ability to work independently.
