Job Description Summary

Underwrite Select endorsements, new business, and other midterm transactions within delegated authority in a high-volume environment. Territory covered is countrywide. Contribute to outlier management through renewal red flag reviews and Policy Assessments of Classification and Eligibility (PACE), among other processes. Support key business objectives, account retention, and account growth. Candidates well suited to this role will enjoy learning about a wide variety of small businesses, research, analysis and decision making required to meet Travelers and customer expectations. Such individuals will also appreciate team collaboration and frequent communication with agents to achieve desired results.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

Evaluate complex renewal and endorsement business to accept, modify, and decline accounts.
Underwrite new business generated by the Business Center.
Comply with underwriting strategies and regulatory requirements.
Ensure underwriting quality through appropriate application of underwriting analysis based on risk complexity.
Apply appropriate terms and conditions and document underwriting decision rationale.
Engage with agents to close individual transactions.
Supply technical underwriting analyses and recommendations to other employees within Small Business Underwriting and Business Centers.
Provide technical expertise in the delivery of underwriting training supporting the needs of local Business Center teams.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of property casualty insurance experience.

Licensing or Certificates

Insurance designations (CPCU, INS) preferred.

Job Specific Technical Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of property and casualty products and marketplace.
Strong technical multi-line underwriting skills.
Quantitative reasoning, critical thinking skills.
Strong relationship-building skills; ability to establish productive networks inside and outside of Travelers.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively prioritize and complete multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment.
