OUR TEAM:
We are the Data Science and Integration team. We are made up of different specialists who play multiple roles: data scientists, data architects, data engineers, statisticians, data analysts, business analysts, and database administrators. We provide our expertise in all things data to Promega. We lend our expertise to Integrating data, moving data, and providing insights into data. Our diverse internal clientele includes all area of Promega's business. We strive to answer the questions our partners haven't even asked us yet.
YOUR ROLE:
From Madison, WI or anywhere remotely, the Data Scientist 3 provides end-to-end development of statistical/machine learning/AI based analytical data models that provide business-actionable process and outcome improvements.
This position engages with any/all internal stakeholder groups at Promega to support advanced analytics development.
JOB OBJECTIVE: Provide end-to-end development of statistical/machine learning/AI based analytical data models that provide business-actionable process and outcome improvements. Engages with any/all internal stakeholder groups at Promega (IT, F&A, Marketing, Sales, QA, R&D, etc.) to support advanced analytics development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Lead development/testing/deployment of machine learning/AI/analytical models that provide technical solutions, improvements, optimizations to business stakeholder groups at Promega.
2. Conduct quantitative and statistical analyses using internal and external data, with a focus on providing decision support to internal stakeholders.
3. Engage with key business stakeholders in discussion of business strategies and opportunities that can leverage analytics tools to drive outcome success.
4. Provide pilot-scale data pipeline development/design to collect, clean, manipulate, analyze, and present large datasets in a production ready environment for new internal and external data sources.
5. Develop end-to-end machine learning pipelines: From data extraction, to ETL to feature engineering to model building, performance evaluation and implementation.
6. Work with data engineers to deploy data pipelines and analytics models into production environments both in the cloud and on-premises.
7. Systematically track performance of data models and data outputs to ensure high performance, optimization, and positive results.
8. Serve as a subject matter expert on advanced data techniques including machine learning, predictive modeling, data mining, data filtering, network analysis, etc.
9. Identify and propose advanced data analytics projects and solutions that map to Promega's long term data strategy.
10. Drives technical innovation through active research and applications of new data theories, techniques, and technologies
11. Understands and complies with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our business.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Advanced degree in Marketing, Economics, Statistics or other data-relevant science discipline and/or MBA.
2. 7+ years of related business experience and understanding of Life Science Industry and Promega customer markets.
3. Experience building and deploying Machine Learning/AI/Predictive analytics models in production environments.
4. 5+ years experience with building statistical models, data tools for end users, data mining, data visualization.
5. Experience in use of SQL, SSIS, VB.NET or C# for data pipeline development and using APIs for external data.
6. Experience in use of R, Python or Spark for analytics development.
7. Proficiency in use of data reporting and visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, and/or related tools.
8. Working knowledge and experience with strategic/tactical product marketing, marketing automation, digital marketing and sales
9. Possesses an analytical orientation and strong problem-solving skills, including financial modeling skills.
10. Strong project management experience.
11. Solid interpersonal and communications skills.
12. Proven ability to interpret data and communicate the implications of analysis at all levels of the organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Related experience or understanding of Life Science or biotechnology industries.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to travel in the US and internationally
2. Ability to occasionally work outside of normal business hours.
3. 10% or less travel required
