Job description

Memberships & Appeals Co-ordinator

Competitive salary
London

English National Opera is founded on the belief that opera of the highest quality should be accessible to everyone.

This appointment will be made on merit, but we believe that diversity strengthens and enriches us, and that it is the responsibility of everyone at ENO to make the arts and cultural sector a more diverse and equal place. As Black, Asian and minority ethnic and disabled people are currently under-represented at ENO, we particularly encourage and welcome applications from such applicants.

The English National Opera's Development Department is growing, as we work towards our goal of increasing our revenue fundraising to £6m per year by 2027.

We're looking for a Membership and Appeals Co-ordinator, with a salary of £25,000.

As our Membership and Appeals, you will be raising vital funds that will support:

  • Musician training and mentoring programmes, supporting the rising stars of opera.
  • Learning and participation programmes that reach young people from all over the UK.
  • Health and wellbeing programmes, part of our social prescribing work, that supports the UK's recovery from Covid-19.
  • World-class opera productions on the stage of the London Coliseum and beyond.

Forget everything you may know about opera, ENO is a unique company. If you have no experience of opera or classical music, don't worry - we'll share our experience with you.

What we're looking for is:

  • Someone ready to begin a career in arts fundraising, as this is an entry level role.
  • Someone excited about the prospect of working at an innovative company, with accessibility at the heart of everything we do.
  • Someone able to offer world class, exceptional customer service to ENO Supporters.
  • Someone confident with technology and willing to learn about ticketing and CRM Systems.

We offer a hybrid working environment, with one day per week at the theatre, and the other four days can be working from home or at the theatre, dependent on the performance event schedule.

We operate a 'blind' application process, so the shortlisting panel won't see your name, gender or any education institutions you attended - just your work experience and personal statement, we try to minimise unconscious bias in our process.

If you wish to apply, please complete Part 1 and Part 2 of the application form and the Equality and Diversity Monitoring Form and return as separate attachments to

First round interviews will be via Zoom, second round interviews in person.

Closing date: 6pm, Monday 5 December 2021.
