ABOUT US

We're looking for a consultant experienced in the delivery of ecology and biodiversity aspects of EIA projects to join our growing team.

Middlemarch Environmental is an award-winning natural environment consultancy that has recently embarked on an exciting period of strategic growth. Headquartered in Coventry and with regional teams across the UK, Middlemarch provides nationwide ecological, arboricultural and biodiversity services, as well as supporting clients with innovative landscape design and nature-based solutions.

Middlemarch has a bold ambition to be the environment consultancy of choice, offering trusted advice that helps to create an enduring natural environment legacy.

Many challenges can arise at the interface of nature and human development. Middlemarch provides expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients to address these challenges and ensure that the value in nature is fully understood, preserved and, wherever possible, enhanced.

Established in 1989, Middlemarch is a wholly owned subsidiary of Warwickshire Wildlife Trust. Collectively, the Wildlife Trusts are the largest voluntary nature and conservation organisation in the UK with over 850,000 members and 35,000 volunteers working to improve nature

THE ROLE

Over the last 30 years, the company's ecological practice has developed a strong reputation and proven track record as a leader in the field. We are renowned for delivering ecology and biodiversity solutions for large EIA projects, including residential, employment and major infrastructure developments. As a member of our EIA team you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering the ecology and biodiversity aspects of EIA projects, to include client and project management, undertaking baseline surveys, completing technical reports and overseeing the design and implementation of mitigation and enhancement. The role will also involve undertaking work such as Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments and Reports to Inform Habitats Regulations Assessments as required.

This role requires you to act as a brand ambassador for the business, communicating confidently and clearly with clients, providing sound advice, and ensuring their needs are understood. You'll also need to demonstrate a commitment to health and safety, with an ability to complete dynamic risk assessments in the field.

The role can be based at one of Middlemarch's existing hubs in the Midlands or South-east, or alternatively can be a home-based role. Middlemarch has recently upgraded its vehicle fleet and an electric or hybrid vehicle can be provided to support this role.

Due to the nature of ecological fieldwork you'll need to be prepared to work flexible and, at times, unsociable hours. Additional hours worked can be claimed as overtime and/or time off in lieu.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you're a consultant who is currently working at a senior or principal level, or who is looking to take the next step in your consultancy career, this could be an ideal opportunity for you. All we require is that you are a confident and competent consultant who can demonstrate relevant experience and/or qualifications.

Membership of CIEEM and holding of valid protected species licences would be advantageous, but are not essential.

WHAT WE OFFER

As a part of our team, you'll be offered a competitive salary in line with your experience and skills, the potential for performance related rewards, company pension, and the opportunity for training and continued professional development.

You'll be provided with all of the PPE and technical equipment needed for the role, as well as a laptop, mobile phone and access to a company vehicle.

Middlemarch celebrates diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and is committed to providing fair and equal access to opportunities for all candidates.
