Job description

Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors, L.P. manages over $30 billion in assets (as of 7/1/2021) with investments in real estate, credit, growth private equity and midstream and upstream energy companies. We are seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to join the Private Equity Real Estate fund accounting group in our Los Angeles office. Los Angeles area candidates highly preferred.


General Position Responsibilities:


  • All aspects of general ledger for Limited Partnerships and Joint Ventures
  • Prepare, research and resolve cash reconciliation differences in a timely manner
  • Responsible for quarterly fund closes
  • Prepare asset valuations for real estate investments, including running various types of waterfall models.
  • Calculate and review partner income allocation schedules, including carried interest and management fees based on the terms of the governing documents.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements and footnote disclosures
  • Calculate fund level and asset level returns; IRR and ROI
  • Liaise with interoffice departments such as investor relations, operations, marketing and portfolio management, etc.
  • Various ad-hoc requests and projects


Qualifications and Experience:


  • 2 - 5 years of experience in fund accounting, financial accounting, audit or finance function for alternative investment companies (preferably real estate).
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or similar
  • General understanding of financial instruments and financial statements
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Excellent quantitative/analytical and verbal/written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and excellent work ethic
  • Ability to work in a team and individually
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Knowledge of Investran is a plus
