Job description

The Software Developer III performs coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting throughout the application development process. Designs and develops software applications. Being a Software Developer III requires a bachelor's degree. May direct a few junior level software engineers. In addition, Software Developer III typically reports to a manager. Being a Software Developer III contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Working as a Software Developer III typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience.

Schedule:

· Mostly Monday to Friday, some weekend activities, some shift work to support releases into production. Releases typically occur 1 day per week. Flex time welcome with written supervisor approval.

Work location:

· Remote, with occasional office visits in the Sacramento, CA area. Travel and lodging paid by SDV INTERNATIONAL when approved in advance.

Qualifications include:

· Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and software design.

· Expertise required in object-oriented design methodology and large-scale application development in Java.

· Excellent knowledge in practicing architectural and design patterns, open-source platforms, frameworks, technologies and software engineering methodologies.

· Experience developing innovative solutions that meet organizational needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and alignment to development goals and principles.

· Knowledge in all aspects of SDLC including requirement/design reviews as well as code reviews.

· Ability to create infrastructure, create and apply test cases, and apply automation geared towards ensuring quality.

· Identify project risks and work efficiently to mitigate them.

· Professional and respectful communication.

· Team-orientation.

· Ability to work rotating after-hour release shifts, which generally occur once per week.

· Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills.

· Candidate must be U.S. Citizen and be authorized to work for the Federal government.

· Candidate must pass a background check in compliance with Federal and State law.

Senior qualifications (90th percentile) include:

· Estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, and rollout system changes.

· Lead product initiatives, recommend improvements, mentor and guide junior team members.

· Share release management duties on feature rollouts.

· Expand staff industry and product technical expertise.

· Find root cause fix stability and scalability issues in time critical environments.

Skills required:

· Experience must include the following: Java, J2EE, SOA services, Spring, Object Oriented Concepts, Data Structures, REST Services, Web technologies and internet protocols.

· Database driven application development such as Oracle, SQL or schema design; HTML, AJAX, SOA: SOAP/RESTful Services.

· Knowledge of web services and SOA related standards that include REST/OAuth/JSON.

· Knowledge of Windows and UNIX development environment, source code management such as Git and bug tracking.

· Java application debugging and DB performance issues; IBM WebSphere or other J2EE application servers.

Preferred qualifications:

· Experience with Commercial and/or Federal Health Care customers.

· Current of recent Department of Defense clearance strongly preferred.
