Job description

A leading Central California-based company in environmentally friendly services is looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as it moves into its next phase of development. The company is looking to access the public markets for a capital raise. The CFO will play a critical role in assisting with this process and managing all aspects of the finances of the company after it goes public. The company is poised well to capitalize on its success and recent market conditions.


The CFO will report to the CEO and function as a key advisor to support critical business decisions and execute the company's strategic plans. This position calls for a finance executive who can manage the challenges of a publicly traded organization and the various reporting requirements. The CFO does not have to reside in Central California but must be close enough so that he or she could be at the office as needed.


Primary responsibilities will consist of the following:


  • Assist the CEO to develop and execute the financial strategy of the company
  • Oversee all matters related to accounting and finance
  • Monitor the financial performance of the company to ensure that it stays on target with budget and publicly stated forecasts
  • Prepare and present financial information to management, investors, and the board of directors
  • Oversee the investor relations function
  • Develop and manage a capable finance department that can handle the needs of a publicly traded company
  • Manage the capital structure of the company taking into consideration risk, liquidity, and market conditions
  • Ensure compliance with SEC regulations including the timely and accurate filings of the 10-Q and 10-K
  • Develop operating and capital budgets
  • Manage banking, CPA, insurance, and other relevant relationships with key outside advisors
  • Develop internal reporting packages to analyze key performance indicators and evaluate trends within the business
  • Ensure internal controls and related processes
  • Support M&A activities and play a lead role on all aspects of financial due diligence
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase profitability
  • Work on ad hoc projects


The ideal candidate will be a finance executive with gravitas and strong management experience. In order to be considered, this person must meet the following criteria:


  • 10+ years of recent experience in financial leadership roles with at least 5 years of that at a publicly traded company
  • Experience with public offerings through various methods such as an IPO, reverse merger, and / or an acquisition through a SPAC
  • Experience managing treasury and investor relations functions
  • Experience leading M&A activities
  • Proven track record with either large or large middle market companies
  • Experience managing all aspects of finance including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and cash management
  • Strong communication skills and leadership capabilities
  • Collaborative and team player
  • Public accounting experience (preferably Big 4) and CPA license preferred but not required


This position will pay a base salary commensurate with experience and the rigors of this position. In addition, the individual will have access to a bonus, equity, and a full suite of benefits available at the company.
