Job description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Department in addition to playing a key role in a variety of special projects. He or she develops and maintains a calendar of activities and events to ensure that recurring tasks are performed on a timely basis. We are seeking for a person with strong accounting background and reconciliation skills.


JOB DESCRIPTION


  • Understand the firm's retirement plans including the 401(k) and Cash Balance
  • Solve a variety of complex situations involving participant needs; Liaise with vendors; Provide information or assistance horizontally; Commit to providing quality services
  • Responsible for setting up monthly and quarterly contributions and reconciliation of the Partners Master Spreadsheets
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with managers, plan participants and team members
  • Address all inquiries with tactful, accurate and timely responses
  • Monitor and reconcile all general ledger accounts related to pension, including suspense and expense accounts
  • Assist with annual Plan audits
  • Assist with the payroll process; Enter deferral contribution and loan payments; Reconcile wires
  • Maintain the Beneficiary Spreadsheet (and supporting files)
  • Inform managers of sensitive issues or special projects pertaining to the pension program

  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience on reconciliations.
  • Some knowledge of ERISA regulations.
  • Experience working closely with outside vendors and supporting a demanding customer base.
  • Experience managing projects and developing close working relationships with participants.


REQUIRED SKILLS


  • Strong PC skills (including Word and Power Point).
  • Must have advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent project management and presentation skills.


EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE


  • Minimum 5+ years of successful experience with a large accounting firm, law firm, benefits consulting firm, or benefits department of a large corporation.
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting or other business related field preferred.
  • HOURS
  • Monday through Friday, 9:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. with additional hours as needed. Limited time off in December and January.
