Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Issuing and maintaining the work schedule for the HR staff.

  • Oversees New Hire Orientation

  • Coordinates benefits enrollment, including 401(k) enrollment.

  • Collects, processes, files and updates benefit-related documents.

  • Participates in claims review.

  • Participates in strategic planning for human resources functions and services; recommends goals and objectives and oversees and/or participates in the development and implementation of human resources policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for maintaining a good attendance record.

  • May be required to be a panelist for the Internal Review Board Hearing.

  • Ensures compliance with all Kalispel and applicable laws including but not limited to Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) and Kalispel Family Medical Leave, etc.

  • Assist the Staffing in developing recruitment strategies to achieve required staffing levels, following Kalispel Tribe Preference Policy.

  • Answer day-to-day questions about the Human Resources processes.

  • Ensure all request for Family Medical Leave, Employee Accidents, Workers Compensation Claims and Disability Claim are forwarded to the Human Resources Claims Specialist.

  • Assist the Director of Learning and Development in determining training requirements.

  • Files and maintains employee training records.

  • Tracks training attendance and completes miscellaneous training reports.

  • Responsible for investigating employee grievances and coordinates processes of responding to complaints.

  • Interviews employees to gather information on their responses to general factors that affect worker morale, motivation, and efficiency.

  • Explain to employees' rules, regulations and procedures, and need for compliance.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has daily supervisory responsibility of two personnel.

Education

  • Bachelors (B.A.) degree required.


Experience

  • Ten years of experience in Human Resources field (experience preferred; Training and Development, Employee Relations)


Skills

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft programs and other computer software.

  • Working knowledge of Human Resource Information System (Ultipro preferred).

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, fractions, percentages and ratios to practical solutions.

  • Ability to establish procedures for effective implementation. Prepares reports, correspondence and other information.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems having non-standard solutions

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Skill in identifying and resolving administrative issues under pressure conditions.

  • Ability to maintain professionalism at all times.

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organization and outside business contacts

Other Requirements

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Ability to obtain a Kalispel Tribal Work Permit.

  • Available and willing to work any changes in hours deemed necessary for Business Levels
