The Health Scholar Jr. Recruiter will be assisting with the recruitment initiatives and other key operational work.

The Health Scholar Jr. Recruiter will support the operational management of the Health Scholar recruitment process in a part-time capacity of 20 hours a week, for at least three months.

Position Description:
Recruitment and Enrollment

• Present program overviews to classrooms on college campuses
• Support recruitment efforts by attending job/major fairs, distributing flyers on campus, or facilitating open house events
• Respond to applicant phone and email inquiries in a timely manner
• Develop and maintain trackers to ensure organization of enrollment processes
• Prepare materials for orientation and interviews
• Compose communication to applicants regarding their current status and next steps
• Assist Leadership Team in ensuring that all applicants' health records, background checks and drug screens are compliant with health system policies and are filed appropriately

Other Duties

• Maintain an operational work plan as required by the Program Manager
• Assist in ensuring Policies and Procedures for the COPE Health Scholars Programs are upheld
• Assist with scheduling, space reservations and coordinating for meetings
• Attend and participate in Leadership Team and Executive Team meetings, if applicable
• Maintain an open line of communication up and down the chain of command including bringing all questionable or "red flag" situations and matters to the Program Manager or Regional Manager
• Assist in the efficient execution of operations of program
• File paperwork as appropriate

Qualifications:

• Must be able to commit 20 hours per week for a minimum of three months (note that this is a temporary position)
• Currently pursuing a bachelor or master's degree
• Familiarity with the Health Scholar Program is preferred
• Strong customer drive and dedication to quality and success
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Detail-oriented and able to work well independently
• Flexible with work hours

In partnership with the UCLA Executive Programs in Health Policy and Management, the COPE Health Scholar Services provide pre-health students and careerists looking to make a transition to health care with hands-on, experiential education opportunities. Scholars are carefully selected, well-trained and placed in clinical and administrative areas within hospitals and ambulatory care centers, where they are integrated into and assist the health care clinical or administrative team. The COPE Health Scholars Programs is a unique opportunity for students and those considering a career transition to bridge the gap between academic training and real life, as well as to gain specific training for non-licensed job roles such as Care Navigator.
