SoFi is seeking Accountants (Staff, Staff II, Senior Accountants) to join our growing accounting team. - Assist, participate or lead the monthly and year-end close processes as well as assisting with year-end annual audit
- Perform detailed account reconciliations including journal entries and monthly reconciliations
- Prepare and produce easy to follow workpapers explaining issue, procedures and conclusion
- Identify issues and work with senior team members to come up with an effective execution approach
- Analyze accounts, journal entries, subsidiary ledgers, and other accounting documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform analytical review of the Balance Sheet and Income Statement
- Perform tests of internal controls and enhance controls as needed
- Enhance and document accounting and regulatory processes, narratives, and policies
- Coordinate with compliance, payroll, AP, and controller's group to ensure expenses and accruals are accurate
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of reports for investors, management, and external auditors
- Prepare or assist in developing and preparing analytical and statistical reports to drive leadership decision making
- Perform ad-hoc reports and analyses upon request
- Accounting for the Bank:
- Prepare Broker Dealer's weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual regulatory reports including 15c3-3, 15c3-1, SSOI, SIS, and OBS
- Work closely with Bank Operations, Accounts Payable, and Treasury departments to ensure that transactions are recorded properly under U.S. GAAP
- Equity Accounting:
- Support business partners with equity related analysis
- Provide support in the preparation of quarterly SEC financial filings
- Assist with year-end annual audit as well as internal audit and SOX requests
- Revenue Accounting:
- Knowledge and experience in revenue recognition under ASC 606 and/or AR
- Financial Reporting
- Prepare supporting schedules and financial statement tie-outs for SEC disclosures on a quarterly and annual basis under public company accounting standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the finance organization to assist with other reporting requirements, including subsidiary, statutory and bank reporting, as necessary
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or equivalent
- Applied working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting procedures
- Strong organizational, analytical, mathematical, and project management
- A forward-thinking and hands-on approach
- Proactive and self-driven with the ability to think creatively within a flexible environment
- Strong knowledge of accounting theory and practice
- Computer skills, including Excel, Word, and general ledger systems
- Knowledge of balance sheets, income statements, and mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios
- Experience with NetSuite
- CPA certification is a plus
- Audit experience
