Neighbourhood Officer - Maternity Cover 1 Year - 30 Hours A Week - Blackburn

Your new company
Hays are currently partnering with one of the North Wests largest housing associations to recruit a Housing Officer for a 12 month maternity cover with the possibility of being extended. The position is currently home based but includes visiting tenants and properties.

Your new role
You will work as a neighbourhood officer and will be responsible for a patch. The roles primary focus is going to be making sure people have safe houses to move into and managing tenancies, as well as helping to assess applicants on the housing register & waiting list. Duties will include:

* Actively promoting and be invested in working with other teams in the regeneration of various schemes \/ estates to promote sustainability within all our communities.
* Letting properties as efficiently and effectively as possible
* Monitoring vacant stock levels
* Ensuring any vacant properties are re-let with a minimum delay
* Liaise with the Empty Homes team
* Liaise with inspection teams
* Making sure all management policies are followed to keep all properties to a consistently high level
* Working with the wider team in the regeneration of schemes \/ estates, and ensuring everything possible is done to promote sustainability within our communities
* Liaising with colleagues and other agencies over any specific customer problems relating to e.g. complaints, rent arrears, anti-social behaviour, or repair requests
* Support delivery of an effective and efficient income collection service, signposting customers where appropriate, liaising with debt recovery agents to facilitate the collection of rents and supporting debt recovery agents in the process to recover possession where necessary
* Responsible for the allocation and letting of dwellings in accordance with current policies & procedures
* Interpret and apply different procedures
* Managing confidential and personal information appropriately and sensitively

What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have prior experience of working with customers dealing with a broad range of housing management duties and knowledge and understanding of current housing, welfare & neighbourhood management issues. A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
